Opal was united in marriage to Frank McConaghy at her parent's home in rural Winfield on April 24, 1935. The couple farmed in Hooser and Udall before moving to rural Winfield in 1948. Opal made her career as a homemaker and farmer since 1935. In addition to his parents, Skul was preceded in death by a sister, Amira Schall. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn McConaghy Fields.

She enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, and board games with her family and friends. She loved baking and decorated wedding cakes with her sister Phyllis for many years. Maxine McConaughey, age 88, of Hudson, WI, passed away on Sunday October 10, 2021, at Red Cedar Canyon with family by her side. Maxine was born on October 14, 1932 in Houlton, WI, to parents Ralph and Evelyn Anderson. Maxine worked as a waitress at Lowell Inn and also at Press On in Stillwater.
